Car Rental Credit Card

Credit Card Offers for Car Rent

[October 15, 2007]

People are different. We all choose different means of payment. Some of us enjoy using cash, others prefer credit cards. If a person uses cash, he relies only on his/her own financial sources. In case, he/she chooses credit card, it means that a person feels ok being dependant on a lender and is not afraid to live in credit. Be it a debit card in your pocket - stability is what is vital for you. Now let me elaborate a little on these two types of cards: debit and credit.

No need to mention all the benefits that credit card provides - it's been talked a lot about lately. Today credit cards are covering car rental services as well.

You are more than welcome at almost any car rental company if you have got Discover, Visa or MasterCard. These companies will offer you a number of rewards. Using your credit card to rent a car is very convenient and (what is more important) financially rational. If you cannot get a credit card, most credit card companies will require a substantial amount of cash deposit so as to ensure the payment. You may apply for a secured credit card, which is somewhat easier to manage in terms of not getting into debts.

This is the case with a debit card as a payment scheme. Some car rental companies do accept debit cards. They just set up the so-called authorization hold (deposit) for the whole rental period.

It is a completely different case if you have got a platinum Visa or MasterCard. Accepting such credit cards, the company may use it two times. It will cover the rental sum and will charge additionally if you damage the car. If you are accurate enough to come back with a car in the perfect condition, you will not be charged a single extra dollar. The company will just run a blank ticket.

Be it a debit card, the rental company will withdraw the money without any blank ticket. Certainly, at the end of the rental period they will return the money. But this may take two weeks.

We may conclude that these credit cards will allow you to have a larger some of money at your disposal. It might be of some importance, for instance, if you intend to travel. And this is not the only cash rebates that you get.

If you are able to use gold or platinum cards of the major credit card companies, you may count on the free of charge car insurance. Yes, exactly so! If you by chance will turn out to have an accident, your car insurance will cover the repair costs. Doesn't it sound sweet? The only thing you should keep in mind is that such protection may actually affect your car insurance rates.

Now that I told you about both debit and credit cards, do you agree that credit cards are actually more convenient? The difference in expenses is obvious.

The new extended agreement will be beneficial for both companies. Delta will receive a $2 million from a purchase of SkyMiles and contract improvements. American Express will be able to grow the value of its co-branded rewards cards and increase merchant acceptance in the Midwest.

Raising your credit score involves several steps. You need to get new credit and prove that you can pay your bills on time. However, qualifying for a new plastic can be difficult if your FICO score is less than 660 points. Nowadays more than 70 million people in the U.S. find themselves in this category. The solution for them is subprime credit cards. Although these plastics come with higher borrowing costs, they really work. A recent research conducted by Citizens for Equal Access to Credit showed that a large percentage of subprime cardholders improved their FICO score during 2 years!

As the Wall Street mistakes have pulled the nation into the financial mess, ordinary consumers are losing jobs and having hard time borrowing for major expenses. It shouldn't seem odd to think about getting another loan or a credit card today, because you still need a home and your child needs education. If you've lost a job, a bank card with reasonable rates and substantial limit can help stand firm for a while.
The credit score, the figure showing the borrowing risk, becomes the major factor in the lender's decision. It allows good risk consumers to get a good credit card at favorable terms and pass the crisis safe. But as the requirements are tougher each new day, it is important for you as a borrower to maintain or achieve good payment history and solid FICO scores.
